Why don’t I see the Padlock or the https: prefix when I enter your Discount Store? Is the store secure?

Yes, the checkout area of the store is secure. When you are browsing in the store or even when you actually select an item to purchase you are in the normal Internet environment. At this point there is nothing to secure. You haven’t identified yourself or input your Address and Credit Card information yet. The same is true when you just view your shopping cart. You are still anonymous at this point.

As soon as you decide to ‘Check Out’ or ‘Complete your Order’ you are moved to a ‘Secure Environment’ where all information you enter is secure and encrypted to protect your Credit Card information and your Privacy. Here you will see the Padlock and the https: prefix will be in the web address.

If you ‘right click’ on the ‘Check Out’ page and select ‘Properties’ at the bottom of the menu that comes up, you can see the page security info and view the security certificate.

Does this store require the use of a "cookie"?

To use this shopping cart a session "cookie" must be stored in your browser. "Cookies" are not programs that can actually do anything. They are simple text files which allow the shopping cart program to know when you switch pages and when you put an item in your shopping cart. The "cookie" is required to use this and most online shopping carts. You can usually modify your browser to prevent this from happening but it will also prevent you from using this and many other web sites. The information in the cookie will be used to track you, as you move from page to page, on this site, but it doesn't contain any confidential information about you and it will not track your computer after you leave our website. Why are there sometimes additional costs for shipping?

We hate it when that happens, but part of shipping costs are calculated by how much a package weighs. Some items also require oversized boxes and sometimes more than one box is required to properly package items. In most cases our automatic shipping calculations will be accurate. Furnature, Table Packs and orders with several cues or heavier items may have additional shipping costs. If this happens we will contact you in advance of processing your order to be sure you still want to place the order with the additional shipping costs added. This occurs most often with International orders but it can happen within the Continential US, too.
